Get on board! Wait. Why join a board?
This event is all about the benefits of joining a board. Cause gal it's time to jump on that train! Importantly, the event is also about how to end up on a board (in the first place!) and what you might like to do today, to help set you up for that board position in the future. We often hear about the benefits of joining a board, for example, did you know some roles are paid and many people use paid board positions to increase their incomes? It's also a great way for you to engage in organisations who share your vision and focus on causes you are passionate about. But, how do you actually end up on a board? How do you know if you want to be on a board and what board to join? Wait.. how do you even know about a vacant board position let alone whether you are qualified to apply?
We are so excited to invite Kath McCann as our keynote speaker on the night. In most cases, people tend to join boards later in life towards the end of theirs careers. This is not the case for Kath. She's only 38 and already have an impressive list to type out!
Kath will provide some great insights into the benefits of being on boards and how you actually join one. She has held, and continues to hold a range of board positions. Currently Kath is the Deputy Chairman and Director of Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, a member of the Tasmanian Heritage Council, Director of Oak Possability in the disability services sector and a Director of the Tasmanian Development Board. She will further share with us how she managed to combine her various passions across a number of different boards.
Kath also has an extensive Senior Executive career in the Public and Private Sector across multiple sectors including tourism, aviation, education, hospitality and entertainment. She's held Senior Executive roles with a range of prominent Tasmanian organisations including Hobart Airport, Tourism Tasmania and Federal Group focused in the areas of strategy, marketing, business development, communications and sales. Kath is currently working in the not-for-profit sector with Beacon Foundation.
Get ready to be inspired. And did we mention there will be refreshments? Oh yes there will!
Come along. Bring a friend. Enjoy an evening that will have you leave the event wanting more, know what you're worth and be ready to take over the world!
We are looking forward to meeting you!
Annie and Linda
